LaneMate Legal
Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern access to LaneMate’s mobile apps, website, League Play membership and team tools, substitute coordination, schedules and reminders, live scoring, stream sharing, Meta Quest / VR companion experiences, payments, event discovery, member services, and related support experiences. By creating an account or using LaneMate, you agree to these terms.
1. Eligibility and Account Responsibility
You may use LaneMate only if you can form a binding agreement, provide accurate information, and use the platform in compliance with applicable law. You are responsible for your account credentials, device access, and activity that occurs under your account. If you create or manage league, tournament, house, coach, or pro shop content, you represent that you are authorized to submit, publish, and manage that information.
If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these terms for you. A child under 13 may not independently create or manage a LaneMate account. Event organizers, schools, teams, coaches, and guardians remain responsible for youth-participant permissions and applicable child-privacy rules.
2. LaneMate Services and Account Types

- Bowling session setup, score entry, shot tracking, saved history, and wearable-connected scoring

Features may vary by device, account type, region, or active subscription. We may update, improve, suspend, or remove features as the platform evolves.
A LaneMate join request, invitation, roster entry, substitute claim, or team creation is a record inside LaneMate. It does not by itself guarantee placement, eligibility, lane time, official membership in a bowling association, or acceptance by a venue or organizer. League owners and authorized captains may approve, decline, reassign, remove, or limit participation under their published rules and applicable law.
3. Mobile App and Device Terms
If you use LaneMate on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or other supported devices, you may use the app only on devices you own or control and only as permitted by the applicable platform terms. If you downloaded the iOS app from Apple, you and LaneMate acknowledge that this agreement is between you and LaneMate LLC, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app, its content, or support obligations beyond what law requires.
4. Paid Services, Billing, Auto-Renewal, and Refunds
Some LaneMate services require paid subscriptions, paid event registration, add-ons, or payment processing through third party providers. By enabling paid services, you authorize applicable charges, recurring billing where selected, and any taxes or fees associated with the purchase. Trial periods, holds, billing dates, and cancellation terms shown during checkout or in-app profile settings are part of the service terms for that purchase.
Digital memberships and admin access purchased in the iOS app are billed through Apple In-App Purchase and managed in your Apple subscription settings. Digital bowling balls or cosmetic items purchased inside a Meta Quest / VR companion are billed through Meta Platform In-App Purchases and managed under Meta platform rules. Real-world bowling entries, league fees, tournament fees, invoices, pro shop purchases, and eligible payouts may use Stripe-hosted checkout or Stripe Connect. Paid memberships and other recurring services renew automatically until you cancel before the next renewal date. You are responsible for keeping your payment method current and reviewing plan, renewal, and cancellation details shown during sign-up, checkout, and in your account settings.
Refund eligibility may depend on the service type, event policies, administrative approval, and payment processor rules. LaneMate may suspend paid access for failed or disputed payments.
League Play player and substitute access is included after a valid team invitation. A valid single-use captain season code may grant one captain free roster, invitation, availability, lineup, lane, and schedule tools for the stated team season; it does not grant full finance, sheet-import, payout, or code-issuance administration and does not create a subscription. Those League Admin capabilities may require a paid add-on or an account plan that includes them. For team-balance collections, checkout shows the team principal and any LaneMate service fee before payment. Stripe Connect may route the disclosed team principal to the captain's connected Stripe account while LaneMate retains the separately disclosed platform fee. Captains are responsible for being authorized to collect team funds, keeping schedules and balances accurate, handling team-specific refunds or disputes, and meeting any accounting or tax responsibilities that apply to those funds.
Joining or creating a LaneMate league or team does not waive dues, registration charges, venue fees, or organizer rules imposed outside LaneMate. A captain, league owner, or substitute request may identify which participant is expected to pay, but no LaneMate charge is authorized until the identified payer is shown the amount and affirmatively approves the charge or completes checkout. You may not approve a charge for another person unless you have authority to bind that person.
5. League, Team, Event Admin, Coach, and Pro Shop Responsibilities
If you use LaneMate as a league owner, captain, event admin, house operator, coach, or pro shop, you are responsible for the accuracy of schedules, roster limits and roles, eligibility settings, pricing, signup instructions, contact information, inventory, invoices, stream settings, and other content you publish. Event- or league-specific terms, refund policies, participation rules, and governing-body requirements you set remain your responsibility and are in addition to these terms.
League owners may configure whether teams can be created, whether a league-wide substitute pool is available, and how many regular and substitute members a team can carry. For a selected five-person format, five active regular bowlers complete the lineup; configured substitute slots remain optional and do not count toward those five positions. Captains and other delegated managers must act within those controls, invite or approve only appropriate participants, keep roster roles and weekly availability access current, and promptly remove access that is no longer authorized. Organizers remain responsible for official eligibility, schedule changes, attendance decisions, cancellations, refunds, and disputes.
Authorized users must review scanned or imported league-sheet rows before applying them and must avoid entering bank details, government identifiers, health information, or other unnecessary sensitive information into team notes, sheet text, invitations, substitute requests, or calendar descriptions.
6. Substitute Requests, Availability, Notifications, and Calendars
A League Play substitute request is team-only by default. Team-only requests are available to authorized team managers, involved participants, and eligible registered substitutes on that team. If the league owner has enabled a league substitute pool, the requester or another authorized team or league manager may publish an open request to eligible registered substitute members across that league. In LaneMate records this broader league scope may be labeled “public,” but it is not intended as a public-internet listing.
A private or team-only setting limits access within LaneMate but cannot guarantee absolute confidentiality. Authorized recipients may remember, copy, forward, or act on information they receive. A substitute invitation, response, or claim does not guarantee a lineup position or payment; an authorized organizer may cancel, reassign, or resolve the request. Members must provide accurate availability and update it promptly when plans change.
Notifications and reminders are convenience features and may be delayed, filtered, disabled, or unavailable because of device settings, connectivity, provider behavior, or service conditions. You can adjust supported notification preferences and device permissions. Do not use roster, availability, or substitute tools to spam, harass, discriminate, or contact a participant for purposes unrelated to the applicable league or team.
Calendar tools help create, update, export, or remove LaneMate schedule entries on supported devices and services. Some website or third-party calendar flows open or download a draft that you must save. Always verify the official league or venue schedule; calendar entries and reminders are not the official record, and deleting an entry does not cancel a roster assignment, substitute commitment, payment, or league membership.
7. Scoring, Streaming, and Shared Content
You are responsible for the content, scoring data, stream metadata, video, profile details, and event information you submit through LaneMate. If you enable guest or public viewing on a live session, you authorize LaneMate to display the shared event, bowler, score, and stream details according to the sharing level you selected.
If you enable auto recording, LaneMate may start eligible scoring-session recording and live sharing using the defaults saved in your account or on your device. Recording may capture video, microphone audio, participant images or voices, lane or venue details, scoring, shot timing, movement information, and related metadata. LaneMate shows recording controls or status while it captures or publishes, and you can stop recording without ending the scoring session.
Before recording, you must provide clear notice and obtain every participant, venue, organizer, parent, guardian, or other consent required by applicable law and policy. You may not use LaneMate for concealed, unlawful, or unauthorized recording. Device camera or microphone permission is permission from the device user to LaneMate; it is not consent from every person who may be captured. You are responsible for selecting an appropriate private, guest, or public audience and checking that choice before capture or sharing begins.
Private sharing limits LaneMate access to your account and selected recipients. Guest links may be forwarded by a recipient. Public sessions may appear in public discovery, LaneMate TV, YouTube, or other public experiences. Viewers or third-party platforms may copy, download, or retain shared content outside LaneMate's control. If you connect a YouTube account and enable YouTube for a public session, you authorize LaneMate to request the required YouTube permissions, store the connected channel handle or URL in your LaneMate profile social links, create a separate live broadcast on LaneMate TV and your connected channel, send the same selected live feed to both broadcasts, and create or queue recording exports. You also authorize LaneMate to send selected video, scoring, title, description, visibility, and channel metadata to YouTube and to place the other channel or live-watch link in broadcast descriptions so viewers can discover both channels. Views, chat, engagement, notifications, analytics, moderation, monetization, and saved replays remain separate for each YouTube channel under that channel's settings. If no user channel is connected, the selected public YouTube stream publishes only to LaneMate TV.
You must have the rights and permissions needed to record, stream, publish, or share participants, venues, logos, tournament details, and other content. Do not upload or publish content that is unlawful, infringing, misleading, abusive, or violates the privacy or publicity rights of others.
You retain ownership of content you submit, but you grant LaneMate a non-exclusive license to host, process, display, transmit, and format that content as needed to operate the service, including stream discovery, scoreboards, public previews, playback, thumbnails, captions, AI-assisted draft creation when enabled, customer support, and product security. Deleting a local recording removes LaneMate-managed local files from that device, but does not automatically remove an uploaded, shared, exported, cached, YouTube-hosted, or recipient-made copy. Use account deletion or contact support for help with LaneMate-hosted cloud media.
8. AI-Assisted Features and Imports
LaneMate may create structured recaps, coach-report drafts, highlight suggestions, pro-shop fit explanations, director checklists, paper-import drafts, and risk or anomaly findings from selected account, event, scoring, movement, equipment, payment-status, recording, or text context. These outputs are informational drafts, may be incomplete or incorrect, and require review by an authorized person before they are published, imported, sent, or used to make a decision. LaneMate AI is not medical, legal, financial, or injury advice.
Supported features use LaneMate's deterministic processing by default. If a feature offers third-party AI processing, LaneMate will require a separate consent choice before sending the structured feature context to that provider. You must not submit confidential, regulated, or third-party information to an AI or import feature unless you have authority to do so. Paper, roster, receipt, and participant imports are review drafts and must not be committed until an authorized user verifies names, contact information, payment status, eligibility, and other extracted fields.
9. Privacy, Data Choices, and Account Deletion
The LaneMate Privacy Policy is incorporated into these terms and explains data categories, recording and AI processing, service providers, retention, deletion, and user choices. You may change permissions and sharing settings, disconnect YouTube, stop Auto Record, request access or deletion help, and initiate account deletion from Profile settings. Revoking permission stops future device access but does not automatically delete information already uploaded, published, or shared.
10. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use LaneMate to impersonate another person or organization
- Interfere with platform security, availability, rate limits, or access controls
- Scrape, harvest, reverse engineer, or misuse data beyond the intended product experience
- Post or transmit malware, fraudulent payment activity, spam, or illegal content
- Use shared live session features to expose private content without permission
- Falsely claim to own or manage a league or team, or change rosters, roles, availability, lineups, substitute requests, or claims without authority
- Broaden a team-only substitute request to the league pool without permission or use member, roster, or availability data for unrelated solicitation, spam, harassment, or discrimination
- Record, upload, import, analyze, or publish a person or their information without required authority, notice, or consent
- Rely on AI-assisted output without appropriate human review or use it for medical or injury diagnosis
- Use the Meta Quest / VR companion for cash entry fees, cash prize pools, cash-out wallets, redeemable tokens, or real-money gambling
11. Third-Party Services
LaneMate may rely on third-party providers for payments, messaging, authentication, cloud hosting, media delivery, analytics, mapping, calendar delivery, YouTube connections, consented AI processing, and other infrastructure. Those services may have their own terms, privacy policies, uptime characteristics, and eligibility requirements. LaneMate is not responsible for third-party outages or provider policy changes outside our control.
12. Intellectual Property and Feedback
LaneMate and its branding, software, workflows, and platform materials are owned by LaneMate LLC or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Except for limited rights needed to use the service as provided, no ownership rights are transferred to you.
If you send feature suggestions, workflow feedback, product ideas, or improvement requests, you agree that LaneMate may use them without restriction or compensation to you.
13. Service Availability and Disclaimers
LaneMate is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We work to keep scoring, streaming, search, league and team, substitute coordination, notification, calendar, and billing tools reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, exact uptime, or error-free results. Timing, playback, scoring sync, substitute matching, notification delivery, calendar updates, recording uploads, AI-assisted outputs, wearable integrations, third-party payment systems, and external venue data may occasionally be delayed, unavailable, or incomplete. LaneMate is not an official governing-body roster, schedule, eligibility, or scoring record unless an applicable organizer expressly designates it as such.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, LaneMate LLC and its affiliates, officers, employees, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, or event-related losses arising from your use of the platform. If liability cannot be fully excluded, LaneMate’s aggregate liability will be limited to the greater of the amount you paid to LaneMate in the preceding twelve months or one hundred U.S. dollars.
15. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access if you violate these terms, create security or fraud risk, misuse payment services, or use the platform in a way that harms LaneMate or other users. You may stop using LaneMate at any time. A league owner or authorized captain may separately remove or restrict your league, team, or management role without deleting your LaneMate account. Certain roster, substitute, calendar mapping, notification, receipt, support, audit, and compliance records may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy.
16. Governing Law, Updates, and Contact
These terms are governed by the laws applicable to LaneMate LLC, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. We may update these terms to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. Updated terms become effective when posted unless a later date is stated. We may require renewed in-product acceptance for material updates. Continued use of LaneMate after updates take effect means you accept the revised terms to the extent permitted by law.
Questions about these terms can be sent to [email protected] or handled by phone at 810-384-5847.
