LaneMate Legal
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how LaneMate LLC collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the LaneMate
apps, website, League Play membership and team tools, substitute coordination, reminders and calendars, live scoring tools,
Apple-device experiences, Meta Quest / VR companion experiences, payment features, support channels, live streams,
recording workflows, document imports, and AI-assisted features.
App Store privacy summary: LaneMate collects data to operate accounts, league and team coordination,
substitute matching, schedules and reminders, scoring, discovery, streaming, recordings, AI-assisted features, payments,
support, safety, and reliability. LaneMate does not use personal information, Health or Fitness
information, location information, payment information, diagnostics, photos, videos, audio, contacts, messages, device
identifiers, or usage data to track users across third-party apps or websites for targeted advertising or advertising
measurement. LaneMate does not sell personal information or share personal information with data brokers.
1. App Store Privacy Summary
This section is written to help users and App Review understand how LaneMate maps its features to common App Store
privacy categories.
Data is not used for tracking
LaneMate does not link app data with third-party data for targeted advertising or advertising measurement and does
not share user or device data with data brokers. Because LaneMate does not use these categories for tracking,
LaneMate does not request App Tracking Transparency permission for this purpose.
Data may be linked to your account
Account, profile, event, league and team membership, availability, substitute, calendar mapping, notification, scoring,
VR equipment sync, registration, payment, purchase history, receipt, support, and admin records may be linked to your
LaneMate account so the service can authenticate you, coordinate participation, show your history, manage paid access,
sync selected settings, and provide support.
Optional sensitive permissions
Apple Health, Motion & Fitness, When In Use location, contacts, camera, photos, videos, microphone, calendar, and
notification permissions are requested only when a related feature needs them. LaneMate may show a setup screen after
login, but that screen does not open Apple permission prompts until you tap the matching setup button. You can decline
or revoke these permissions in iOS Settings.
Diagnostics support reliability
Product interaction, crash, performance, device, and other diagnostic data may be used for app functionality,
security, support, troubleshooting, and scaling public live sessions and recordings.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on the features you use, LaneMate may collect or process the following data categories:
Contact and account information
Name, email address, phone number, username, password credentials or authentication tokens, suffix, ZIP code, user ID, role, team, coach, pro shop, house, league, tournament, League Play join request, invitation and roster status, requested regular or substitute role, captain or owner permissions, team-creation status, roster-limit settings, referral details, public social handles, profile visibility, and connected channel or profile metadata you provide or authorize.
Health and Fitness
On-device HealthKit step count and workout save state, plus derived bowling-session Fitness measurements such as approach step count, distance, cadence, and timing when you choose to enable Health + Fitness or active bowling-session motion features. Daily HealthKit step totals remain on device; derived session Fitness measurements may sync with scoring or recording data.
Location
Coarse location such as ZIP code or city, including a saved profile ZIP used as a fallback after device location is declined or unavailable, and precise device location only when you choose location-based discovery, ZIP autofill, venue/session setup, or active scoring/session features.
Scoring, gameplay, movement, and derived insights
Bowling sessions, scores, shots, approach timing, step count, cadence, release or motion measurements, linked clip timing, brackets, league/tournament participation, League Play season weeks, availability, substitute requests, invitations, claims and accept/decline responses, attendance likelihood, scheduled lineups, lane assignments, opponents, team balances, calendar event mappings and sync status, VR lane sessions, ball selections, configuration sync, live session state, saved progress, product interaction, search, watch, and performance summaries needed to operate LaneMate.
Payments and purchases
Payment status, subscription status, purchase history, invoices, receipts, refund or payout records, team-payment principal and platform-fee amounts, connected-account identifiers and onboarding status, Apple In-App Purchase transaction identifiers, Meta Platform IAP entitlement or purchase identifiers for Quest digital items, Stripe checkout identifiers, and payment summaries returned by payment processors. LaneMate does not receive full card or bank account numbers from Stripe-hosted checkout or onboarding.
Contacts and communications
Contacts only if you choose to import or invite people, plus support requests, email messages, in-app messages, text-message style communications, team or league invitation and substitute-alert recipients, notification preferences, delivery status, and interaction status you send or receive through LaneMate.
Photos, videos, audio, and recording metadata
Profile media, support attachments, recording clips, live-stream media, microphone audio, thumbnails, captions, clip tags, sharing targets, camera settings, timestamps, and camera or library uploads when you choose to create, upload, stream, or share that content or enable Auto Record.
Imported documents and AI-assisted content
Roster, league sheet, receipt, or other text and images you submit for review; prompts or requests; selected account, event, scoring, equipment, payment-status, or recording context; AI-assisted recaps, coach reports, highlight suggestions, fit explanations, import drafts, risk findings, and audit metadata. Paper and image imports remain review drafts until an authorized user confirms an import.
Device, diagnostics, and other data
Device ID or installation identifiers, app version, device model, operating system, Meta Quest/controller or motion signals needed for VR gameplay, network and request metadata, crash data, performance data, other diagnostic data, audit logs, fraud-prevention signals, security events, and other operational data.
3. How We Use Information
LaneMate uses information for the following purposes:
- Create, authenticate, secure, and recover accounts
- Operate scoring, discovery, live streaming, recording, YouTube connection/export, Apple device, Health + Fitness, payment, and member features
- Process league and team search, join requests, invitations, roster roles and limits, team creation, availability, lineups, and delegated owner or captain permissions
- Match team substitutes, invite selected substitutes, publish authorized requests to an eligible league substitute pool, record responses or claims, and send related alerts
- Create supported schedule reminders and calendar entries, exports, mappings, updates, or removals you request
- Process subscriptions, event payments, invoices, receipts, refunds, payout records, and related customer support
- Deliver password reset messages, account notices, support responses, optional reminders, and platform notifications
- Support venue, coach, pro shop, tournament, league, bracket, and public live-session workflows
- Create review-only AI-assisted recaps, coach reports, highlight suggestions, imports, equipment explanations, and administrative risk findings
- Improve reliability, scalability, safety, fraud prevention, diagnostics, and product performance
4. Apple Health, Fitness, and Device Permissions
On iPhone and Apple Watch, LaneMate may use Apple Health and HealthKit permissions to read daily step counts and save
bowling workouts after you tap Health + Fitness in the post-login setup screen or enable access from the Profile page.
Health and Fitness data is used for LaneMate app functionality, member insights, workout history, and support. It is not
used for targeted advertising, advertising measurement, cross-app tracking, sale, or data-broker sharing.
Apple Watch auto-tracking uses Motion & Fitness and HealthKit while you are using LaneMate bowling-session features, such
as scoring, approach steps, slide distance, and live session movement. It does not use passive venue tracking, background
location, or Always location while the app is closed.
Daily step counts read from HealthKit and workouts written to Apple Health are processed on your device and are not sent
to LaneMate servers solely because Health access is enabled. When you use active scoring or watch-linked session features,
derived session measurements such as approach step count, distance, cadence, or timing may sync with your LaneMate scoring
and recording data as Fitness information.
If you do not enable Apple Health access, LaneMate does not read from or write to HealthKit for your account. You can
change Health, Motion & Fitness, camera, microphone, photos, contacts, When In Use location, calendar, and notification
permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
League Play calendar sync is off by default. LaneMate asks for calendar permission only after you choose to enable sync for
a team. When allowed in the iOS or Android app, LaneMate can create, update, or remove only the LaneMate team events it
mapped for that season, using the server schedule as the source of truth. Website and some third-party calendar flows may
instead open or download an event draft that you must save. LaneMate does not read unrelated calendar-event details for
advertising or to build your League Play profile. You can stop supported sync in LaneMate, revoke calendar access in device
settings, and remove created entries from your calendar.
5. Location, Contacts, Photos, Videos, Audio, and Messages
Location access is optional and is used to help find nearby events, coaches, venues, pro shops, inventory, and public
sessions, autofill ZIP search, support venue or session setup, and operate active scoring/session features you start.
LaneMate requests When In Use location only and does not request background or Always location for the current Apple
review build. In the setup flow, LaneMate asks you to try current device location first. If device location is declined
or unavailable and you have a saved profile ZIP, LaneMate can use that ZIP as the first fallback; if no profile ZIP
exists, you can enter a ZIP manually. If you allow precise location, LaneMate may use it to resolve nearby results and
may store only the location details needed to support the feature, security, diagnostics, or audit history.
LaneMate does not read your email inbox or SMS history. Emails or text-message style data means communications you create
or receive through LaneMate, such as support messages, invitations, notifications, account messages, and event or team
communications. Notification permission is requested only after you enable notification-backed scoring or event alerts.
Contacts, photos, videos, and audio are collected only when you choose to import, upload, record, stream, attach, or
share that content.
6. League, Team, Substitute, and Calendar Visibility
Public or discoverable league and team directories may show information needed to identify and join an available league or
team, such as a league or team name, venue or location, season details, owner or captain display information, configured
roster capacity, and whether team creation or join requests are allowed. Private profile fields, credentials, payment
details, and unrelated account data are not included in public discovery merely because a league is searchable.
When you request to join or participate in a team, LaneMate shares the profile, requested role, membership status,
availability, and coordination details reasonably needed by the applicable league owner, captain, authorized manager, and
team participants. Those authorized users may approve or decline requests, assign roles and lineups, enforce roster limits,
or remove access. Your availability is used for that team’s schedule and substitute planning.
A team-only substitute request is visible to authorized team managers, involved participants, and eligible registered
substitutes on that team. If the league owner allows a league substitute pool and an authorized requester or manager
publishes the request more broadly, eligible registered substitutes on other teams in that league may receive or view it.
This broader in-product scope may be stored as “public,” meaning visibility only to eligible league members—not the
unrestricted internet or an unauthenticated public webpage. Shared details may include team, week, date and time, lane or location, requester display name, requested
role, availability, notes, invitation or claim status, and payment responsibility if applicable.
Changing a profile, notification, availability, or substitute-request setting applies prospectively. A message already
delivered to a recipient, a calendar entry already saved to a device or third-party service, an audit record, or a copy
made by an authorized recipient may remain after the setting changes.
7. Streaming, Recording, and Public Visibility
LaneMate requests camera and microphone permission through your device before capture. Recording controls and status
indicators are shown while LaneMate is capturing or publishing. If you turn on Auto Record, an eligible scoring session
may start camera and microphone capture using the recording and sharing defaults saved in your account or on your device.
You can stop recording from the live score screen without ending the bowling session.
The person who starts or configures a recording is responsible for notifying everyone who may be captured and obtaining
any consent required by applicable law, venue rules, event rules, team or school policy, or a parent or guardian. Do not
use LaneMate for concealed or unauthorized recording. Camera or microphone permission from the device does not replace
your responsibility to obtain participant consent.
LaneMate uses the visibility and sharing controls you select. Private sessions stay limited to your account and selected
recipients; guest-shared sessions may be available to invited or link-based viewers; and public-shared sessions may appear
in public discovery, LaneMate TV, YouTube, or live-session experiences. A recipient can copy a guest or public link, and
LaneMate cannot control copies or recordings made by viewers after authorized content is shared outside LaneMate.
Public live sessions, public scoreboards, guest watch links, and public discovery pages may show event names, lane or
venue details, bowler or team display names, scoring, bracket status, stream status, live video, replay or recording
previews, and other details needed for viewers to follow the public session. Recording uploads, private recording
history, account billing, admin tools, and member-only data remain behind authenticated access unless you or an authorized
admin publishes or shares them.
Clips can be stored locally on the device and, for signed-in or sharing-enabled sessions, uploaded with scores, shot
timing, sharing settings, participant display information, and related session metadata to LaneMate or its media-delivery
providers. Deleting a local session removes LaneMate-managed local files from that device; an uploaded, shared, exported,
cached, or provider-hosted copy may remain until the applicable cloud deletion, account deletion, provider retention, or
support-request process is completed.
If you connect YouTube, LaneMate stores connection status, channel metadata, the connected channel handle or URL in your
profile social links, OAuth tokens, and the permissions needed to save selected recordings or configure selected streams.
When you enable YouTube for a public live session and your own channel is connected, LaneMate sends the same live feed to
both LaneMate TV and your connected channel. YouTube creates a separate broadcast and watch page on each channel. LaneMate
may include the other channel or live-watch link in each broadcast description so viewers can discover both channels.
Each channel separately receives its own views, engagement, chat, notifications, analytics, moderation, and replay under
that channel's YouTube settings. You can disconnect YouTube from LaneMate profile settings; future YouTube live sessions
then publish only to LaneMate TV unless you reconnect. YouTube may process videos, captions, stream metadata, and account
information under Google and YouTube policies.
8. AI-Assisted Features and Automated Outputs
LaneMate can create session recaps, coach-report drafts, highlight suggestions, pro-shop fit explanations, director
checklists, paper-import drafts, and risk or anomaly findings. These outputs may use account, profile, event, scoring,
shot, movement, equipment, payment-status, recording metadata, clip tags, or text you choose to submit. AI-assisted
outputs can be incomplete or wrong and are drafts that require human review before they are shared, published, imported,
or used for an operational decision. LaneMate AI does not provide medical or injury diagnosis.
LaneMate uses deterministic server-side processing by default for supported AI-assisted features. If a feature offers
third-party AI processing, LaneMate sends information to that provider only after the feature receives separate consent
and the user requests provider processing. The request may include the minimum structured context needed for that feature;
raw private video or audio is not sent to a third-party AI provider unless the feature expressly says so before consent.
LaneMate records limited audit metadata about the feature, user, consent state, output fields, and related session or event
identifiers for security, troubleshooting, and human review. LaneMate does not currently use private recordings to train
a general-purpose AI model.
LaneMate does not use AI-assisted output by itself to make decisions that create legal or similarly significant effects.
Authorized administrators remain responsible for reviewing imports, duplicate or payment warnings, eligibility details,
recommendations, and any action taken from an AI-assisted draft.
9. Payments and Third Parties
Digital memberships and admin access purchased in the iOS app are handled through Apple In-App Purchase. Digital bowling
balls or cosmetic items purchased inside a Meta Quest / VR companion are handled through Meta Platform IAP. Real-world
bowling entries, league fees, tournament fees, invoices, pro shop purchases, and eligible payouts may be handled by
Stripe or other payment providers. When you complete checkout, payment information may be entered with and processed by
those providers under their own terms and privacy policies. LaneMate may receive and store payment status, purchase
history, invoice, receipt, subscription, entitlement, refund, payout, and checkout summary records needed to support
access, billing, financial compliance, disputes, fraud prevention, and customer support.
For League Play team collections, Stripe Connect may process a destination charge that separates the team principal from
a LaneMate platform fee shown before checkout. LaneMate may store the connected-account identifier, onboarding and payout
readiness, checkout status, principal, fee, payer, team, and member references needed to reconcile the payment. Bank-account
details are entered with Stripe and are not exposed to team members or bowling-center users through LaneMate.
LaneMate may share information with service providers that help host the platform, cache public pages, process payments,
deliver emails or notifications, send support messages, provide authentication, operate streaming or media delivery,
connect YouTube, perform consented AI processing, maintain analytics and diagnostics, protect security, and comply with
law. LaneMate requires service providers to protect LaneMate information consistently with this policy and applicable
contractual or legal requirements, and limits their processing to authorized services.
10. Diagnostics, Advertising Data, and Analytics
LaneMate may use product interaction, crash, performance, device, and other diagnostic data to troubleshoot bugs,
maintain uptime, improve app functionality, detect abuse, and scale public live sessions and recording playback.
LaneMate currently does not run third-party targeted advertising in the LaneMate app. If LaneMate receives campaign,
referral, or advertising-related source data, it is used to understand LaneMate marketing effectiveness and is not used to
track users across third-party apps or websites.
If LaneMate later adds a feature that tracks users as Apple defines tracking, LaneMate will update the app, App Store
privacy details, App Tracking Transparency handling, and this policy before that tracking begins.
11. Retention and Security
We retain active account and feature data while your account is open and as reasonably necessary to provide the service.
Local recordings remain on a device until removed by you, removed with the related local session, or removed when the app
is uninstalled. Cloud recording media, stream copies, metadata, AI audit records, support records, and shared content are
retained while needed for the feature, the selected provider lifecycle, security, dispute handling, or a deletion request.
Public, guest, YouTube, exported, downloaded, or recipient-made copies may remain outside LaneMate's direct control.
League and team join requests, invitations, roster and role history, availability, substitute requests and responses,
notification delivery records, calendar mappings, schedule changes, payment approvals, and management audit records may be
retained while needed to operate the season, resolve participation or payment disputes, enforce access controls, prevent
abuse, support safety, or meet legal obligations. Removing a member from a team or deleting a calendar event does not by
itself erase the related audit or organizer record.
Account deletion removes the active account and revokes LaneMate authentication. A restricted account archive may be
retained for up to five years under the service's default retention setting for fraud prevention, billing, disputes,
security, and legally required records, after which it is scheduled for purge; a longer period may apply when required by
law, litigation hold, tax, payment, or financial-record obligations. LaneMate may retain de-identified or aggregated data
that no longer reasonably identifies you. We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to
protect personal information, but no system can be guaranteed perfectly secure.
12. Your Choices and Account Deletion
You may update certain account, profile, and sharing settings directly inside LaneMate. You may also delete your account
yourself from the LaneMate website at lanemateapp.com/portal?page=profile or from the
app under Profile > Settings > Delete Account. We may still retain limited receipt, payout, audit,
and compliance records after deletion when needed for legal, financial, security, or operational retention purposes.
You can contact [email protected] to request help accessing,
correcting, exporting, or deleting information, including cloud-hosted recording media. You can also stop Auto Record,
change sharing defaults, disconnect YouTube, revoke a supported AI consent choice, and revoke Apple Health, Motion &
Fitness, location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, calendar, and notification permissions in your device settings.
You may update or withdraw future availability, opt out of supported substitute alerts, leave or request removal from a
team, and remove calendar entries you control. Revoking a permission or changing a preference stops the related future
access or delivery but does not automatically delete information already submitted, delivered, shared, or retained for an
authorized organizer, audit, security, payment, or legal purpose.
13. Children, Youth Athletes, and Event Information
If you manage athlete, youth, or school-related information, you are responsible for obtaining any permissions required
to create an account, record, upload, import, publish, or share that information through LaneMate, including parent or
guardian consent when required. LaneMate is not intended for a child under 13 to create and manage an independent account.
Do not provide information or recordings you are not authorized to share. Contact LaneMate to request deletion of a
child's information that may have been submitted without valid authorization.
14. Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy as LaneMate changes. If we make material updates, we will post the revised version here
and update the effective date. We may require renewed in-product acknowledgment when a material update changes how an
account or feature is provided. Continued use of LaneMate after changes take effect means you acknowledge the updated policy.
